Crabbing in the Red Sea

We stalks blue crabs (Ketam Renjong dan Ketam Bunga) after nightfall as crabs will not run that much at night. On many occasions, crabs will 'fight back' when we flashed them with flash lights..thus make it easier to catch... It was fun! (but not always, since kumpau is often as well!)

These crabs were caught off Red Sea coastline sometimes in April 2011 in the shallow 'Padang Ragut' some 100km away South ward from Jeddah, near Qattan Resort. The water was just knee high and it was pretty easy to catch.. but you need to be aware of the strong claws that are ever willing to clamp your fingers to no avail. Some people speared the crabs, but I choose to scoop them with fish landing net and then grab them by hand (using diving gloves as extra security). Catch them alive.. and eat them fresh... that's the best way!

Spear Fishing in Saudi Arabia

Red Sea is a great place for anglers.. spear fishing hunters and divers... Here I would like to show some pictures of fishes that was caught by Malaysian Meccans in the sea near Jeddah.. These are fishes caught using spear fishing techniques..
